8 Best Feng Shui Tips For Your Small Apartment to Get More Chi

Know about the Feng Shui tips for Tiny Apartments

How we live today in small apartments doesn’t mean we have to put up with cramped living spaces. We need to use the space which is available more effectively. Feng Shui tips for the small apartment will help you do this. It is a Chinese method of creating living spaces that will generate more Chi or life energy for you.

Often, our apartments are overflowing with the objects, needed for everyday life. But Feng Shui helps that effectively. Managing all of this is a good, harmonious home that will work well for you and make you energized. So here are eight Feng Shui tips for small apartments.

1. Clear the Clutter for Your Small Apartment

Feng Shui is all about allowing energy (Chi) to flow without becoming trapped or blocked by obstacles. If the energy in your apartment is blocked, then you, too, will be blocked in areas of your life.

Clearing out the clutter in your apartment is my number one tip. As you are already living in a small space, keeping your space clutter-free is an essential and ongoing priority.

In Feng Shui, Chi needs to flow through your apartment, flowing without constantly hitting obstacles such as piles of books and boxes of stored items. Your first and hardest task is to decide what you need for living and what’s surplus and therefore has to be cleared by throwing away.

Keep the objects that define who you are. Think minimalist and donate generously to charity or sell items you don’t need.

2. Welcoming Entrance

In Feng Shui, your main door, or entrance, is where the Chi energy enters and nourishes your living space. This is the mouth of Chi, the Universal energy, so in a small apartment, it is essential to enter without having to make your way around and over obstacles.

Clear your cluttered hallway so that Chi energy can flood quickly through your hallway and into your apartment.

Your hallway should welcome you feel warm and be well lit with good lighting. Shoes and bags can be stored away in storage units out of sight. Decorate your hallway with soothing colors and have one or two well-placed pieces of art that have an uplifting and generous feel.

3. The Low Ceilings

Apartments often have low ceilings, which can feel oppressive, or standard bulkheads, disrupting the energy flow and making the space feel closed in. Light your roof with up-lights and bright lighting to make the ceiling feel higher and appear more radiant. This will lift the energy and give a feeling of space.

If your bed happens to be under a sloping ceiling or there’s a bulk directly above, then the energy will be deflected from these, making you feel uneasy and disrupting your sleep. But this can easily be solved by placing a canopy above your bed to create a comfortable space to rest.

4. Bedrooms for sleeping, not for work

You need to get a good night’s rest to feel refreshed and ready to face your day with energy and vitality. Your bedroom space is essential for your health and relationships and should only be used for sleep and relaxation and not double up as office space. Create a space just for sleep and a space for work that is separate from each other.

If space is at a premium, then your bedroom doesn’t need to be ample space. It can be small and cozy, that’s fine. Fill it with relaxing colors and soft, comforting fabrics to make it a space that welcomes you in.

Your bed needs to be anchored to the room to make you feel stable and secure while you sleep, so make sure you have a headboard that is against a wall.

5. Can move easily around an apartment

This may sound a little bizarre, but because space is at a premium, people in small apartments often store objects behind doors, such as umbrellas, suitcases, and stacks of books.

I know this still leaves you with enough space to get through the door whilst allowing you to store more of life’s everyday objects, but this is blocking the door from opening fully and is, therefore, hindering the free flow of air and Chi. In Feng Shui, a door that doesn’t fully open will reflect your life by limiting your opportunities in the wider world.

So if you are looking for more growth and opportunities in your career and personal life, remove all the items you store behind your doors.

6. Display your treasured objects

While Feng Shui advocates the minimalist approach to living, it doesn’t mean you can’t keep your treasured objects. After clearing the clutter and deciding what you absolutely must keep, you will be left with those items you can’t part with.

So, now you can put your items on display and not keep them away in a storage box on the floor under your bed. Decide upon the best way to display these items around your home.

7. Reconnect to nature for your small apartment

People who live in apartments can often have feelings of anxiety and may feel disconnected if they miss the Earth element by going out into nature and taking a walk around the woods.

If you live in an apartment block away from the heart of the city, going out into nature to take a walk may not be there.

The remedy for this, is you need to bring Earth elements into your space so that you can decorate in earthy colors. So regularly get home fresh-cut flowers and plants.

8. Keep your apartment spotlessly clean

After you have decluttered and made space so that you can move around your apartment, keep your most treasured things on display so able to get into all those awkward clean’ spaces.

Having a clean home is paramount in Feng Shui. Chi must flow, so dusty corners and unclean windows are not allowed. Have a good clean all around your apartment. It will make your small apartment feel more spacious, and you will feel more alive and energized too.

Clean under the bed, behind the sofa, kitchen, cupboards, and your bathroom. And make your tiny apartment feel good.
