Islamic Dream and 3 Types of Dreams Interpreted Psychologically
Many people are reporting an increased incidence of dream activity in their sleep. Both Muslims, Christians (all denominations), and other religions believe this is due to the Earth reaching some pivotal point in time.
Whether this is the actual end of planet earth as we know it or some change in how the whole human population lives, from California to New Delhi, to Australia to the United Kingdom people of all cultural backgrounds and religious denominations are having dreams, vivid dreams and lots of them.
If you want to listen in on some people’s dreams search on YouTube which has literally hundreds and thousands of real-life dreams related by everyday people, just like you and me.
What about Islamic dreams?
So having established that many people are having more dreams, some prophetic (predicting future events) in vivid detail, what about Islamic dreams specifically?
Psychologists today who are also Islamic have agreed that there are three types of dreams: Allah, Shaitan, and Nafs.
These types of dreams and their symbols date back to Muhammad Ibn Sirin who in 654 is said to have introduced the belief of three types of dreams in the Islamic faith.
Let us now explore in more detail what each of these is and what types of dreams each one represents.
True Dreams
Allah, this is a dream from God, within this there are sub-categories of dreams of a believer, true dreams, and good dreams. True dreams come to people who live truthful lives and speak truthfully, good dreams come to those who are lawful and follow Allah’s strict halal laws. When a dreamer receives a “good dream” he should only share it with those people whom he considers good.
Shaitan is in essence, a dream or dream from Satan, the Devil, the opposite of Allah. If a dreamer receives this kind of bad dream, he is to wake, spit three times, and then change the side he is sleeping on. He must not tell anyone the dream he has had.
Nafs, the final type of dream said to come from within one’s own mind, perhaps one’s unconscious self. It is a form of distortion on how things are resulting in a bad or meaningless dream creating weird shapes.
Various Symbols of Islamic Dream
In addition to the three types of dreams, the various symbols seen in the dreams can be specifically interpreted to mean certain things.
Entering a door may mean the successful completion of a project while birds flying overhead may mean the person is about to take up an administration post. Meanwhile, something blowing or seen as blowing may indicate a problem will soon blow away literally.
Islamic Dreams Meanings
When it comes to seeing death in a dream, the interpretation is complex depending on the context of the death. This includes who is dying, where they are at the time, the dream leading up to the death, and following it. Like any religion, death can have many meanings in an Islamic dream, including overcoming some things or entering a new period of life. For example, the strange dream of sleeping in bed with a dead person translates to longevity not death of the dreamer!
Laughing signifies good times and good news is on its way soon and dreaming of marriage indicates a marriage is on the cards, whether foreseen or unexpected.
Final Thoughts: Islamic Dream
Interestingly, there is much reference to staying strong to the Islamic faith, with milk, leg irons, and rope all indicating strong adherence to the Islamic faith, being given religious knowledge, and staying strong to the faith. These are just a few examples of the complexity of interpreting the types of Islamic dreams.
